Welcome to Sussex Borough

Sussex Borough was settled by Peter Decker in approximately 1742. It was incorporated from Wantage Township as the Borough of Deckertown on October 15, 1891. The name was changed to Sussex Borough on March 7, 1902, named for the historic county of Sussex in England. Sussex Borough has a total area of 0.62 square miles and is completely surrounded by Wantage Township.

Celebrate 250 Years of Our Nation

Sunday, July 19

Sussex Borough and Wantage Township are hosting a 250th Celebration of our Nation. Parade at 2:00 in Sussex. Music, food, activities, demonstrations, and more at Woodbourne Park beginning at 5:00. NOTE: due to the weather forecast the celebration will be held on the raindate of July 19.

Portions of Route 23 North and South and Loomis Avenue will be closed for the 250th Celebration of our Nation Parade between the hours of 1:00 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. Detours will be in place, and motorists should plan accordingly and expect travel delays.
